Klein to be honored at NCAA Wrestling Championships
Jare Klein, who served as Olivet College’s head wrestling coach for 34 years, will be honored by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) at a dinner prior to the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in St. Louis, Mo., on Wednesday, March 17.
Jare Klein, who served as Olivet College’s head wrestling coach for 34 years, will be honored by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) at a dinner prior to the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in St. Louis, Mo., on Wednesday, March 17.
Klein is being recognized for his contributions to wrestling as a coach as well as being involved on the NWCA executive board representing NCAA Division III schools for 25 years. From 1968-2001, he compiled a 569-116-7 record and an .831 winning percentage. Klein helped produce 16 All-Americans, 43 Scholastic All-Americans and 58 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association champions. He is the winningest Division III wrestling coach and ranks second among all NCAA divisions.
Klein, along with Dan Gable, former University of Iowa and Olympic wrestling coach, will receive lifetime honorary membership to the NWCA.
