Wrestling Team Finishes in Second Place at 2002 Comet Duals
The Olivet College wrestling team finished in second place with a 3-1 record today at the 2002 Comet Duals at MacKay Gymnasium. The Comets defeated Rose-Hulman (Ind.), 43-0; Millikin (Ill.), 37-7 and Bethel (Ind.), 44-6 before falling to Simpson (Iowa), 31-16.
OLIVET, MI. -- The Olivet College wrestling team finished in second place with a 3-1 record today at the 2002 Comet Duals at MacKay Gymnasium. The Comets defeated Rose-Hulman (Ind.), 43-0; Millikin (Ill.), 37-7 and Bethel (Ind.), 44-6 before falling to Simpson (Iowa), 31-16. With the three wins, Olivet has a 4-1 overall record.
Leading the way for the Comets were freshman 125-pounder Kefentse Mandisa, freshman 133-pounder Shawn Parker, senior 149-pounder Chris Dunham, freshman 165-pounder Mike Andrews and freshman 197-pounder Justin Torres.
Mandisa had a 3-1 record with two forfeits and a 9-6 decision. Parker ended the day with a 3-1 mark, including two pins (3:58 and 4:29). Dunham, Andrews and Torres each had a 3-0 record. All three wrestlers pinned one of their opponents.
The Comets will next wrestle on Dec. 6 when they compete at the Lawrence (Wisc.) Duals.
