Wrestling Team Has a 1-1 Record at the Wabash (Ind.) Duals
The Olivet College wrestling team had a 1-1 record today at the 21st Annual Monon Bell Wrestling Classic at Wabash College. The Fighting Comets fell to Lincoln (Mo.) University, 33-9, in the first round before defeating Wabash, 22-15. Olivet then fell to Millikin (Ill.) University, 25-15, in the fifth place dual match.
CRAWFORDSVILLE, IND. -- The Olivet College wrestling team had a 1-1 record today at the 21st Annual Monon Bell Wrestling Classic at Wabash College. The Fighting Comets fell to Lincoln (Mo.) University, 33-9, in the first round before defeating Wabash, 22-15. Olivet then fell to Millikin (Ill.) University, 25-15, in the fifth place dual match. The match against Lincoln is an exhibition match since Lincoln in a junior college.
Leading the way for Olivet was freshman 197-pounder Justin Torres (Holly High School), who had a 3-0 record. Torres pinned Bryan Morgan from Lincoln in 42 seconds; defeated Logan Kuhne from Wabash, 11-3 and pinned Ryan Stites from Millikin in 41.8 seconds.
Freshman 165-pounder Mike Andrews (Swartz Creek High School) had a 2-1 record. His wins were a 5-2 decision and a pin in 1:28. In addition, senior 141-pounder Jacob Stenz (Alpena High School), senior 184-pounder Jason Creager (Grandville High School) and sophomore heavyweight Ryan Tiseo (Washington Romeo High School) all had 1-1 records. Freshman 141-pounder Dave Bishop (Algonac High School) and sophomore 157-pounder Jesse Grenillo (Holly High School) also picked up a victory.
Olivet will next wrestle on Saturday, Feb. 8 when it travels to Berea, Ohio to compete in the 18th Annual John Summa Tournament at Baldwin-Wallace College.
