Wrestling Team Finishes in Eighth Place at the Simpson College Tournament in Iowa
The Olivet College wrestling team finished in eighth place out of 11 teams today at the Simpson College Tournament.
INDIANOLA, IOWA -- The Olivet College wrestling team finished in eighth place out of 11 teams today at the Simpson College Tournament.
Leading the way for the Fighting Comets was sophomore heavyweight Ryan Tiseo (Washington/Romeo High School) who had a 5-1 record and finished in third place. Tiseo also received the Most Pins in Quickest Time award. He had three pins in 11:19 (3:51, 3:44 and 3:44). Tiseo’s other two wins were 5-4 and 8-3 decisions.
Senior 149-pounder Chris Dunham (Nashville/Maple Valley High School) also finished in third place. He had a 4-1 record with his four victories being minor decisions.
In addition, freshman 174-pounder Jeff Wright (Rock/ Escanaba High School) and freshman 184-pounder Ryan Newberry (South Haven High School) finished in fifth place in their respective weight class.
Olivet will next wrestle on Friday-Saturday, Jan. 17-18 when it travels to compete in the 38th Annual North Central College Tournament in Naperville, Illinois.
