Jones joins women’s lacrosse coaching staff at Olivet College
Olivet College Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach Mary Ann Meltzer has announced Sunny Jones has joined her program as an assistant coach.
OLIVET, Mich. -- Olivet College Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Mary Ann Meltzer has announced Sunny Jones has joined her program as an assistant coach.
"I am very excited to have Sunny join our program," said Meltzer. "She brings a wealth of coaching experience with her, which will help our program move forward."
Jones comes to Olivet after serving as the head softball coach at University of Detroit Mercy for the from 2010-12. Prior to that, she was an assistant softball coach at University of Toledo (Ohio) for three seasons. She Jones also coaching experience at Hillsdale College for two years and Concordia University from 2002-04.
At Hillsdale, she led the Chargers to 47 wins and back-to-back appearances in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament. At Concordia, Jones was the interim head coach/assistant coach, where she was responsible for aspects of team management, including fundraising and recruiting.
Jones earned a bachelor's degree in physical education and health education from Ashland (Ohio) University in 2000. She played four years of softball for the Eagles, earning NCAA Division II Player of the Year honors as a senior in 1999. Jones was also a four-time All-America selection. Following her collegiate career, she played professional softball for the Akron Racers in 1999. In 2010, Jones was inducted into the Ashland Hall of Fame.
Jones lives in Ann Arbor with husband, Eric.
