Women’s lacrosse team ends season with 13-9 loss to Saint Mary’s/Notre Dame club
The Olivet College women’s lacrosse team ended its season with a 13-9 loss to the Saint Mary’s College-University of Notre Dame (Ind.) club team tonight at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College women's lacrosse team ended its season with a 13-9 loss to the Saint Mary's College-University of Notre Dame (Ind.) club team tonight at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.
Freshman Mimi Garza (Battle Creek/Pennfield) led the Comets with three goals. Freshman Brittany Hayes (Battle Creek/Lakeview) scored two goals. Senior Cortney Wernette (Remus/Chippewa Hills), as well as freshmen Taylor Guarnaccia (East Lansing/Haslett), Mackenzie Inman (Union City) and Geri Merrell (Battle Creek/Lakeview) each found the back of the goal once. Between the pipes, freshman Sarah Shaw (Grand Haven) made eight saves, while playing the entire game.
Before the game, Olivet recognized seniors Lindsay Conrad (Freeland), Kelsie Kasuba (Rogers City), Cara Van Dam (Grand Rapids/City), Cortney Wernette and Nicole Wernette (Remus/Chippewa Hills), who were playing in their final home game.
NOTE: Since SMC-ND is a club team, the statistics do not count towards the players' final season totals and the loss does not count in the final win-loss total for the season.
