Women’s golf team completes second round, third round suspended due to darkness
The Olivet College women’s golf team completed the second round of the 2014 NCAA DIII National Championships at the El Campeon Golf Course and inside the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The start of the third round was delayed because of lightning and thunderstorms for four hours before being stopped for darkness.
HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The Olivet College women's golf team completed the second round of the 2014 NCAA DIII National Championships at the El Campeon Golf Course and inside the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The start of the third round was delayed because of lightning and thunderstorms for four hours before being stopped for darkness.
After two complete rounds, the Comets stand in 10th-place with a 677 team score, which is two strokes ahead of 11th-place Carthage (Wis.) College and 11 strokes ahead of 12th-place University of St. Thomas (Minn.). Rhodes (Tenn.) College continues to lead the 21-team field with a 634, followed closely by University of Texas at Tyler (639).
Senior Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) leads Olivet with a two-round total of 164 strokes. Sophomores Brooke Kastamo (Howell/Hartland) and Casey Lamp (Kalamazoo/Hackett Catholic) both have a 170. Seniors Adrienne Plourde (Livonia/Redford Thurston) and Ashley Stark (Grass Lake) each carded a 177.
The third round will resume tomorrow morning at 7:30 a.m. The fourth and final round will then start as soon as possible after at a time and format to be determined by the NCAA.
