Women’s golf team wins third straight jamboree, extends lead in the MIAA standings
On an unseasonable warm day, the Olivet College women’s golf team continued its hot play and captured its third straight Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) jamboree of the season.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- On an unseasonable warm day, the Olivet College women's golf team continued its hot play and captured its third straight Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) jamboree of the season. The Comets' score of 324 was 16 strokes better than the closest competition. With today's victory, Olivet has pushed its overall league lead to 43 strokes over second-place Saint Mary's (Ind.) College.
Today's jamboree was hosted by Calvin College at The Golf Club at Thornapple Pointe. Leading the Comets were senior Theresa Damico and sophomore Brooke Kastamo with 79s. The duo shared medalist honors with Amy Worthington from Trine (Ind.) University. Senior Adrienne Plourde finished one stroke back with an 80. Sophomore Casey Lamp finished her round in 86 strokes and sophomore Kirstin Langer carded a 92 to complete the team scoring. Playing as an individual, senior Ashley Stark shot an 86.
Olivet, who moved up to No. 4 in the Golfstat.com NCAA Head-to-Head rankings earlier today, will return to action Saturday for the final jamboree of the season. Trine will serve as the host at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind., and tee time is set for 1 p.m. Following the fourth jamboree, the Comets will host the MIAA season-finale tournament Oct. 11-12 at Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek. Olivet is seeking its third consecutive MIAA title and its six in the last eight years.
