Damico and Plourde slip into tie for 25th-place at WGCA/Pure Silk Women’s Collegiate Championship

POWELL, Ohio – Olivet College women's golfers Theresa Damico and Adrienne Plourde sit in a tie for 25th-place in the 2013 WGCA/Pure Silk Women's Collegiate Team Championship at the Wedgewood Golf & Country Club in Powell, Ohio. The format of the three-day tournament is alternate shot (yesterday), best ball (today) and aggregate score of the two golfers (tomorrow).
In today's best ball round, Damico and Plourde combined to shoot a one-over par 73. The round featured four birdies, with three on the front nine; five bogies and nine pars. With the score, they now have a two-round total of 155 strokes to tie four other schools, including fellow NCAA Division III member DePauw (Ind.) University.
Liz Nagel and Trisha Witherby from Michigan State University are the leaders after the second round with a six-under par 138. The 42-team field is comprised of three NCAA Division II schools, seven NCAA Division III schools and 32 NCAA Division I schools.
Damico and Plourde will be seniors on the 2013-14 Olivet College women's golf team. The duo has helped the Comets win back-to-back Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships. Damico is a three-time All-MIAA golfer, including a two-time first-team selection. She is also the reigning MIAA Most Valuable Golfer. Plourde is also a two-time All-MIAA pick. They finished 1-2 in last year's player standings.
