Women’s golf team finishes second in MIAA Playoff Round #3
The women’s golf team posted a 342 team score and finished in second-place in the third and final playoff round for the MIAA qualifying tournament today at the Blackthorne Golf Course in South Bend, Indiana. Saint Mary’s took first-place with a 315 to move past Olivet and receive the MIAA’s automatic bid to the 2011 NCAA Division III National Championships.
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The Olivet College women's golf team posted a 342 team score and finished in second-place in the third and final playoff round for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) qualifying tournament today at the Blackthorne Golf Course in South Bend, Indiana. Saint Mary's took first-place with a 315 to move past Olivet and receive the MIAA's automatic bid to the 2011 NCAA Division III National Championships.
Senior Amber Conrad (Battle Creek/ Harper Creek) led the Comets with an 80. Junior Lauren Campbell (Fenton) carded an 83. Freshman Theresa Damico (White Lake/Lakeland) was next at 89, followed by senior Abby Wheeler (Grayling) and freshman Adrienne Jones (Redford/Thurston) at 90 and 91, respectively.
Olivet will now have to wait to see if it will receive an at-large bid for to the national championships May 10-13 at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The field will be announced Monday, May 2.
