The Olivet College women’s golf team sits in second-place after the first round of its own invitational at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall. There are 15 teams assembled for the two-round event, which wraps-up tomorrow morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.

The Comets posted a 333 team score to trail Hope College by just one stroke. Saint Francis (Ind.) is third at 341, followed by North Central (Ill.), 341; Wheaton (Ill.), 345; Carthage (Wis.), 354; Trine (Ind.), 355; Wittenberg (Ohio), 364; Northwestern Ohio, 367; Albion, 375; Aquinas, 378; Calvin, 389; Alma, 394; Kalamazoo, 401; and Adrian, 422.
Olivet junior Amber Conrad (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) leads the player standings with a two-over-par 74. Senior Megan Rimmel (Ithaca) is fifth at 80. Sophomore Lauren Campbell (Fenton) shot an 89, while junior Abby Wheeler (Grayling) was a stroke behind at 90.
Following tomorrow's round, the Comets return to The Medalist next Thursday for the first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association jamboree.
