Campbell leads women’s golf team to win at MIAA Playoff Round #1
Led by sophomore Lauren Campbell’s (Fenton) three-over-par and course record 75, the Olivet College women’s golf team won the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) playoff round No. 1 today at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall.

The final two playoff rounds will be played next Friday and Saturday, April 23-24, in South Bend, Ind. The winner of the three-round playoff will receive the league's automatic bid to the 2010 NCAA Division III National Championships in May.
The Comets carded a 328 team score to beat Saint Mary's (Ind.) College by five strokes. Hope was third at 336, followed by Trine (364), Albion (384), Adrian (420) and Kalamazoo (428).
Campbell's 75 earned her medalist honors for the second time this spring. She was three-over (39) on the front nine and even on the back nine (36), including four birdies and eight pars. Junior Amber Conrad (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) was next with a 40 on the front and back nines for an 80 to finish in third-place in the player standings. Senior Megan Rimmel (Ithaca) was one of three golfers to shoot an 82 and place fifth. Junior Abby Wheeler (Grayling) needed 91 strokes to complete her round. The previous course record was 78 by Rimmel during the 2008 season.
Friday's playoff round will be played at the Blackthorne Golf Course and start at 2 p.m. Saturday's round is at Warren Golf Course and gets under way at 1 p.m.
