Women’s golf team slips into tie for ninth-place after second day of 2010 NCAA National Championships
The Olivet College women’s golf team has slipped into a tie for ninth-place after the second day of competition at the 2010 NCAA Division III National Championships at the El Campeon Golf Course and Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
The Olivet College women's golf team has slipped into a tie for ninth-place after the second day of competition at the 2010 NCAA Division III National Championships at the El Campeon Golf Course and Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The third day of the championships begins for the Comets tomorrow with tee times starting at 9 a.m.
After the Comets carded a 338 team score, they had a 352 for a 690 two-round total. With that score, Olivet is tied with Southwestern (Texas) University. The top eight teams are Methodist (N.C.) University, 650; Wis.-Eau Claire, 651; Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) College, 663; Saint Mary's (Ind.) College, 666; Williams (Mass.) College, 684; DePauw (Ind.) University, 685; George Fox (Ore.) University, 686; and Allegheny (Pa.) College, 689.
In today's round, the Comets were led by senior Megan Rimmel (Ithaca). She completed her round in 84 strokes, which gives her a two-round total of 173 strokes. Junior Amber Conrad (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) posted an 85 for the second straight day for a 170 total. Sophomore Lauren Campbell (Fenton) recorded an 87 and has a two-round total of 166 strokes and is tied for 17th in the player standings. Junior Abby Wheeler (Grayling) finished with a 96 for a 181 total.
