Women’s golf team wins first MIAA Jamboree
The Olivet College women’s golf team finished in first-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #1 this afternoon at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall.
The Olivet College women's golf team finished in first-place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #1 this afternoon at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall. The Comets, who won the 2006 and 2007 MIAA championships, posted a 322 team score to break the MIAA course record. Individually, junior Megan Rimmel (Ithaca) was the medalist with a MIAA course record score of 78 strokes.
Following Olivet in the team scores was Hope College at 336, Saint Mary's (Ind.) College at 340, Albion College at 366, Kalamazoo College at 379, Alma College at 384, Trine (Ind.) University at 385, Adrian College at 402 and Calvin College at 428.
Junior Katie Misko (Alma) tied for second in the player standings with an 80. Senior Lindsay Pipkin (White Lake/Lakeland) and freshman Lauren Campbell (Fenton) each had an 82. Sophomore Amber Conrad (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) rounded out the Comet starting five with an 85.
Senior Trisha McKim (DeWitt) and sophomore Abby Wheeler (Grayling) played as individual scorers. Each returned to the clubhouse with an 80.
Overall, all seven Olivet golfers placed in the top 14 and six-of-seven placed in the top nine.
The Comets return to the links this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 6-7, when they participate in the Anderson (Ind.) University Invitational at the Killbuck Golf Course. Olivet's first tee time on Friday will be at approximately noon.
