Women's golf team wins MIAA Playoff #2 by one stroke
The Olivet College women’s golf team took first-place today in the second round of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) playoff at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall. The Comets carded a 350 team score to beat Tri-State (Ind.) University by one stroke. Albion College was third with a 354.

Combining today's score with yesterday's 338 team score, Olivet will enter next Tuesday's third and final MIAA playoff round with a 16 stroke lead over Albion for the MIAA's automatic berth to the 2007 NCAA Division III National Championships. Next Tuesday's round will be played at Tri-State's Zollner Golf Course.
Leading the way for the Comets today was sophomore Lindsay Pipkin (White Lake/Lakeland) who had the lowest round of the tournament with a 78. Senior Kristy Latimer (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) tied for sixth in the player standing with an 88. Freshman Megan Rimmel (Ithaca) had a 91, followed by sophomore Trisha McKim (DeWitt) at 93 and senior Stephanie Nicolai (Shelbyville/Wayland Union) at 97.
Freshman Katie Misko (Alma) was an individual scorer and posted a 90. Senior Amanda London (Marshall) also played as an individual scorer, finishing with a 106.
The national championships will be played May 8-11 at the El Campeon Golf Course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
