Women's golf team finishes in ninth-place at NCAA Division III National Championships

With today's score of 337 strokes, the Comets had a four-round total of 1,370 strokes, only one stroke behind eighth-place Middlebury (Vt.) College. Methodist (N.C.) University won its 10th consecutive national championship with a total of 1,215 strokes.
Today, Olivet was led by senior Kristy Latimer (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) who posted an 80. Starting at the tenth hole, she was three-over par on the back nine, and completed play with a four-over front nine. Latimer did record a birdie on the third hole.
Sophomore Lindsay Pipkin (White Lake/Lakeland) was two strokes behind Latimer with an 82. On the back nine, she had two birdies but finished three-over after having a bogey on three holes and a double bogey on another hole. On the front nine, Pipkin was six-over, recording two birdies, two pars, three bogies, one double bogie and a triple bogie.
Sophomore Trisha McKim (DeWitt) got off to a slow start, going 12-over par on the back nine. She rebounded to finish even par on the front nine, including tapping in for a birdie on the final hole.
Freshman Megan Rimmel (Ithaca) was next with a 90. Senior Stephanie Nicolai (Shelbyville/Wayland Union) closed out her collegiate career with a 106.
For the championships, Latimer had a four-round total of 334 strokes (87-87-80-80), tying for 30th-place in the player standings. Pipkin posted a 336 (85-86-83-82). McKim recorded a 350 (89-90-86-85), followed by Rimmel at 361 (101-89-81-90) and Nicolai at 385 (91-96-92-106).
