Women’s golf team places 10th at Ferris State Bulldog Invitational
The Olivet College women's golf team finished in 10th-place (out of 18 teams) at the two-day Ferris State University Bulldog Invitational at the Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids.
The Olivet College women's golf team finished in 10th-place (out of 18 teams) at the two-day Ferris State University Bulldog Invitational at the Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids.
After firing a team score of 340 strokes yesterday, the Comets had a 336 today for a 36-hole total of 676 strokes. Ferris State won the team championship with a 615 (309-306). Eight of the nine schools who were ahead of Olivet are NCAA Division II schools. DePauw (Ind.) University was the only Division III team to finish in front of the Comets.
Leading the way for Olivet was sophomore Jennifer Lambarth (Saline), who fired a team-best round of 80 strokes today for a two-day score of 162. Freshman Lindsay Pipkin (White Lake/Lakeland) was next at 166 (81-85), followed by junior Stephanie Nicolai (Shelbyville/Wayland Union) and freshman Trisha McKim (DeWitt) each at 174. Sophomore Amanda Sanders (Concord) carded a 179 (91-88) to round out the Olivet starting five.
Senior Katie Edick (Charlotte) and junior Kristy Latimer (Battle Creek/Harper Creek) competed as individuals for the Comets. Edick finished with a 170 (89-81) and Latimer had a 190 (91-99).
Olivet is idle until Monday, Sept. 12, when they participate in the Defiance (Ohio) College Jon Spiess Memorial Invitational at the Ironwood Golf Course.
