Women's golf team finishes in second in MIAA standings
The Olivet College women’s golf team finished in second-place today at the 2004 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek.
Lambarth and Latimer earn first-team All-MIAA honors
The Olivet College women’s golf team finished in second-place today at the 2004 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek.
In the final MIAA seasonal standings, the Lady Comets finished in second-place with a 343.6 stroke average. Saint Mary’s (Ind.) College is the 2004 MIAA champion with a 329.6 average.
Individually, sophomore Kristy Latimer (Battle Creek/Harper Creek High School) and freshman Jennifer Lambarth (Saline High School) earned first-team All-MIAA honors. In five league rounds, Latimer was fourth with an 83.8 stroke average. Lambarth was one stroke behind with an 84.0 average.
Today, Olivet carded a team score of 333 strokes for a two-day score of 675 strokes. Saint Mary’s was first with a 652 (321-331). Latimer led the Comets with a two-day score of 166 (83-83) strokes.
Following Latimer was sophomore Stephanie Nicolai (Shelbyville/Wayland Union High School) with a 167 (82-85). Lambarth had a 169 (84-85), followed by freshman Stephanie Pott (Kalamazoo Mattawan High School) with a 176 (96-80), junior Katie Edick (Charlotte High School) had a 193 (93-90) and freshman Amanda Sanders (Concord High School) with a 185 (97-88).
Sophomore Lindsey Struble (Battle Creek/Harper Creek High School) and junior Wendy Mickelwait (Middleville/Thornapple Kellogg High School) competed as individuals and fired a 185 and 189, respectively.
