Women's golf tied for fifth-place after first round of DePauw Small College Classic

The Olivet College women’s golf team stands in a tie for fifth-place after the first round of the DePauw University Small College Classic at the Deer Creek Golf Club in Clayton, Indiana. The second round is a shotgun start tomorrow at 9 a.m. ET.

The Lady Comets tallied a team score of 350 strokes to tie Franklin (Ind.) College. DePauw is in first-place with a 321, followed by California Santa Cruz with a 342 and Albion and Manchester (Ind.) colleges with a 349.

Individually, sophomore Kristy Latimer (Battle Creek/Harper Creek High School) leads the way for Olivet with an 82. She is followed by junior Katie Edick (Charlotte High School) and freshman Jennifer Lambarth (Saline High School) with an 86, freshman Stephanie Pott (Kalamazoo Mattawan High School) with a 96 and freshman Amanda Sanders (Concord High School) with a 97.

Sophomore Stephanie Nicolai (Shelbyville/Wayland Union High School), junior Wendy Mickelwait (Middleville/Thornapple Kellogg High School) and sophomore Lindsey Struble (Battle Creek/Harper Creek High School) all competed as individuals. They had rounds of 93, 96 and 102, respectively.

Following tomorrow’s round, Olivet will compete at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships Friday and Saturday, Oct. 8-9 at the Bedford Valley Country Club in Battle Creek. Hope College is the host.
