Women’s golf team captures MIAA Jamboree #2 team title
The Olivet College women’s golf team captured the team title at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #2 this afternoon at Milham Park Golf Course in Kalamazoo.
The Olivet College women’s golf team captured the team title at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree #2 this afternoon at Milham Park Golf Course in Kalamazoo.
The Lady Comets had a team score of 340 strokes to finish three strokes ahead of second-place and defending MIAA champion Saint Mary’s (Ind.) College. Tri-State (Ind.) University was third with a 350, followed by Albion College with a 352.
After two league jamborees, Olivet has totaled 697 strokes. Saint Mary’s leads the way with a 675. The remaining MIAA schedule consists of one jamboree this Saturday, Sept. 25 at Zollner Golf Course and a two-day championship Oct. 8-9 at Bedford Valley Country Club.
Individually, freshman Jennifer Lambarth (Saline High School) earned medalist honors with an 82. Freshman Amanda Sanders (Concord High School) had an 84, followed by junior Katie Edick (Charlotte High School) and sophomore Kristy Latimer (Battle Creek/Harper Creek High School) with an 87. Freshman Stephanie Pott (Kalamazoo Mattawan High School) and sophomore Lindsey Struble (Battle Creek/Harper Creek High School) fired a round of 92 and 100 strokes, respectively.
Sophomores Stephanie Nicolai (Shelbyville/Wayland Union High School) and Amanda London (Marshall High School) competed as individuals with scores of 94 and 99, respectively.
After Saturday’s third MIAA jamboree, Olivet will travel to compete at the Baldwin-Wallace (Ohio) College Lady Yellow Jacket Invitational Sept. 26 at the Big Met Golf Course.
