The women’s golf team finished in sixth-place at the two-day Illinois Wesleyan University Spring Fling at the Ironwood Golf Course in Normal, Illinois.
The Lady Comets had identical team scores of 326 strokes yesterday and today for a two-day score of 652 strokes. DePauw (Ind.) University captured the team title with a 601 (304-297). Saint Mary’s (Ind.) College was second with a 615 (305-310), followed by University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire (618), Illinois Wesleyan (635) and St. Ambrose (Iowa) University (641). Twenty schools participated in the invitational.
Leading the way for Olivet was sophomore Kristy Latimer (Battle Creek/Harper Creek), who finished with a 156. In today’s second round, she had a 77, which breaks the school record. Latimer previously held the school record with a 78.
Following Latimer was freshman Amanda Sanders (Concord) with a 164 (79-85). Sophomore Stephanie Nicolai (Shelbyville/Wayland Union) finished with a 165 (85-80). Junior Katie Edick (Charlotte) had a 169 (84-85).Freshmen Stephanie Pott (Kalamazoo/Mattawan) and Jennifer Lambarth (Saline) rounded out the Comets with a 170 and 171, respectively.
Olivet wraps up its spring schedule next Saturday-Sunday, April 23-24, at the Baldwin-Wallace (Ohio) College Yellow Jacket Invitational at the Big Met Golf Course in Fairview Park. Tee times begin Saturday at 1 p.m.
