Women's golf team finishes in 14th place at the Ferris State Bulldog Invitational
The Olivet College women's golf team finished in 14th place (out of 19 teams) at the Ferris State University Bulldog Invitational at the Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids.
The Olivet College women's golf team finished in 14th place (out of 19 teams) at the Ferris State University Bulldog Invitational at the Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids.
The Lady Comets carded a two-day total of 767 strokes, including a 378 in today's final round. There were NCAA Division II and III schools competing in the tournament.
Freshman Kristy Latimer (Battle Creek/Harper Creek High School) shot a team-low score of 178 strokes, including a team-best 87 today to lead Olivet. She was followed by sophomore Katie Edick (Charlotte High School) with a 188, freshman Lindsay Struble (Battle Creek/Harper Creek High School) with a 197, sophomore Wendy Mickelwait (Middleville/Thornapple Kellogg High School) with a 204, freshman Stephanie Nicolai (Shelbyville/Wayland Union High School) with a 207 and freshman Amanda London (Marshall High School) rounded out the Comets with a 215.
"I am very happy with our play this weekend," said second-year Head Coach Bill Maas. "Kristy had two solid rounds and everyone shot a better round today. We need to continue improve at each tournament."
Following Sunday's round, Olivet will be idle until Monday, Sept. 8 when it participates in the annual Jon Speiss Tournament hosted by Defiance (Ohio) College.
