Olivet College’s Campbell earns MIAA Co-Player of the Week honors for women’s basketball
Olivet College senior guard Kelsey Campbell (Olivet) has earned Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Co-Player of the Week honors for women’s basketball.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College senior guard Kelsey Campbell (Olivet) has earned Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Co-Player of the Week honors for women's basketball. She shares the honors with Breanna Verkaik from Calvin College.
Campbell broke both the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) single-season and career assists records, leading the Comets to two wins to give them their best finish in school history in league play at 14-2. She scored 10 points and dished out 11 assists in an 89-72 win at Saint Mary's (Ind.) College and followed that with nine points and 13 assists in a 76-51 win over Trine (Ind.) University.
Campbell completed the 16-game MIAA regular season schedule with 133 assists, breaking the previous mark of 114 by Calvin's Kristen McDonald (2004-05). She had 315 in 48 career MIAA games, shattering the old record of 299 by Jodi Condron from Adrian College (1987-91).
As the No. 2 seed, Olivet hosts No. 3 seed Calvin College in the semifinals of the 2014 MIAA Tournament Thursday night. Tip-off from inside The Cutler Event Center is 7:30 p.m.
