The Olivet College women’s basketball team fell to Saint Mary’s (Ind.) College 67-54 today at the Angela Athletic Center in Notre Dame, Ind.
NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Olivet College women's basketball team fell to Saint Mary's (Ind.) College 67-54 today at the Angela Athletic Center in Notre Dame, Ind.
The Belles raced out to an 8-0 lead and never looked back. After Olivet cut its deficit down to two points, 10-8, Saint Mary's used a 9-0 scoring spurt to go up double figures for the first time. The Belles stretched their lead to as many as 15 points with 1:10 left before halftime and then settled for a 33-20 lead at the break. The closest the Comets would get for the rest of the game was 10 points, 55-45, with 5:57 left in the game.
Junior Sydney Radde (Stevensville/Lakeshore) scored 12 points to lead Olivet. Junior SoQuitta DeShazor (Flint/Hamady) joined her in double figures with 10 points. Radde and DeShazor each grabbed five rebounds. Sophomore Kelsey Campbell (Olivet) had five assists.
The Comets (2-12, 0-5 MIAA) will host Adrian College next Wednesday, Jan. 11, in the first game of a women's/men's basketball doubleheader at The Cutler Event Center in Olivet. The women's game starts at 6 p.m., followed by the Olivet men against Alma at approximately 8 p.m.
