Yarrell earns MIAA Player of the Week honors

Olivet College sophomore center Olivia Yarrell (Lansing/Sexton) has earned Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Player of the Week honors in women's basketball. Yarrell shares her honor with Adrian guard Jennifer Perrin.
Yarrell had 39 points and 12 rebounds, as Olivet posted a 1-1 record at the Ohio Wesleyan University/"Hoops for Hope" Classic Dec. 29-30. In a 65-62 win over the host Bishops, she made an NCAA women's basketball record 14 consecutive field goals en route to a career-high 29 points. She then added 10 points and seven rebounds in a 58-56 overtime loss to Carnegie Mellon (Pa.) University. For the tournament, Yarrell was 18-of-23 (78.3 percent) from the floor.
For the season, Yarrell is averaging 10.6 ppg. She leads the team with a 49.6 shooting percentage (60-121) and 11 blocks.
