NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Olivet College softball team lost both games of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader to Saint Mary’s (Ind.) College, 8-0 and 18-2, this afternoon at the Purcell Athletic Fields.

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Olivet College softball team lost both games of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader to Saint Mary's (Ind.) College, 8-0 and 18-2, this afternoon at the Purcell Athletic Fields.

- The Belles scored one run in the first and third innings, and three runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
- Olivet had three hits, all singles.
- Juniors Lily Eagleton and Karina Marin, and senior Kassidy Zmikly each recorded a hit.
- Freshman Katie Lenz was the losing pitcher after allowing five runs on five hits over three innings.
- Saint Mary's tallied 11 hits, including a 3-for-3 effort by McKenna Myers.
- Myers also drove in three runs.
- Mandi Hettinger earned the win in the circle.
- The Belles pushed across three runs in the top half of the first inning.
- Olivet got two runs back in the bottom half of the first. Zmikly and senior Paige Poulter both reached base to lead off the inning, and both came around to score on a hit by Eagleton.
- Saint Mary's ended the game by scoring 15 runs over the final four innings – four in the second, one in the third, and five in the fourth and fifth innings.
- Olivet was held to three hits.
- Eagleton, Poulter and junior Kaylee Clothier each had one hit.
- Sophomore Jessica Barnes suffered the pitching. She surrendered 13 runs (five earned) on 14 hits over the first three and two-third innings.
- The Belles had 18 hits to match their 18 runs.
- From the leadoff spot in the lineup, McKenna Shoupe was 4-for-5 with four runs and three RBI.
- McKenna Myers, JoAnna Keilman and McKayla Noecker were all 3-for-4.
- Myers and Caitlin Traxler drove in three runs apiece.
- Traxler was the winning pitcher after yielding two runs on three hits over the first three innings.
- Olivet hosts Hope College for a MIAA doubleheader tomorrow, starting at 1 p.m.
