Cross Country: Olivet ends season at NCAA Regional

NORTON, Ohio – The University of Olivet men's and women's cross country teams ended their seasons today at the 2023 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional, hosted by John Carroll (Ohio) University and run at the Silver Creek Metro Park. The Comet women finished 33rd, while the men were 34th.

  • UO Men's Team: 34th of 40 (957 points)
  • Top UO Men's Individual: Chris Davis, 88th of 278

  • The Calvin University women and the John Carroll men captured the team titles to earn the region's automatic bids to the 2023 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships. Calvin and DePauw (Ind.) University both scored 90 points, but the Knights advanced via a tiebreaker. John Carroll scored 69 points to beat runner-up Calvin by 13 points.
  • Meghan Owens from Centre (Ky.) College captured the women's race, while Simon Heys from Wilmington (Ohio) College won the men's race.
  • The Olivet women totaled 908 points. The Comet men and Albion College had matching 957-point totals, but the Britons earned the higher team placement via a tiebreaker.

  • The top five runners for Olivet posted personal-best times.
  • Sophomore Sarah Grove completed the 6K race in 23:35.9 to finish 129th of 269 runners. It is also the second fastest 6K time in school history.
  • Junior Abbey Peters ran the race in 23:52.9 which is the third fastest 6K time in school history.
  • Senior Allyson Stevens had a time of 24:35.6.
  • Senior Tonya Tepin covered the course in 26:01.
  • Freshman Aaliyah Cota finished in 26:09.
  • Sophomore Jamie Stiver registered a time of 27:39.9.
