Men’s cross country team eighth at MIAA Jamboree
The Olivet College men’s cross country team finished in eighth-place at the 2012 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree this afternoon at Saint Mary’s (Ind.) College.
NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Olivet College men's cross country team finished in eighth-place at the 2012 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree this afternoon at Saint Mary's (Ind.) College.
The Comets' top five runners totaled 224 points, which was only nine behind seventh-place Kalamazoo College. Calvin took first-place with 17 points.
Sophomore Andrew Benkovsky (Eaton Rapids) paced the Olivet men, covering the 8K course in 28:05. Freshman Austin Thimler-Coffman (Tekonsha/Union City) was next in 28:29, followed by sophomore Jalen Weaver (Albion) in 28:52. Four seconds only separated Olivet's next two runners, as senior Tom Sobleskey (Olivet) and junior Connor Plagens (South Lyon) finished in 29:53 and 29:57, respectively.
The Comets will participate in the Loyola Lakefront Invitational next Saturday, Sept. 30. The men's 8K race will get started at 11 a.m. CT.
