Men’s cross country team places eighth at MIAA Jamboree
The Olivet College men’s cross country team placed eighth at the 2011 MIAA Jamboree at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana.
ANGOLA, Ind. – The Olivet College men's cross country team placed eighth at the 2011 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree at the Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana.
Defending MIAA champion Calvin College had five of the top six finishers to take first-place with 16 points. Albion was second with 61 points, followed by Hope 62, Adrian 132, Alma 159, Trine 170, Kalamazoo 187 and Olivet 233.
Freshman Andrew Benkovsky (Eaton Rapids) was the Comets' best finisher, as he ran the 8K course in 29:33. Freshman Greg Lutzke (Williamston) was just behind him in 29:47, followed by senior Tom Sobleskey (Olivet) in 31:27. Freshmen Jalen Weaver (Albion) and Kyle Grimes (Concord) finished in 32:47 and 33:12, respectively.
The Comets will compete at the prestigious Loyola Invitational next Saturday, Oct. 1, at 11:15 a.m. CT.
