Men's cross country team hosts MIAA Jamboree
For the first time in recent school history, the men's cross country team hosted a meet. Today's meet was the MIAA Jamboree, and the teams ran at the Olivet Golf Club.
OLIVET, Mich. -- For the first time in recent school history, the Olivet College men's cross country team hosted a meet. Today's meet was the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Jamboree, and the teams ran at the Olivet Golf Club.
Defending conference champion Calvin College successfully repeated as MIAA jamboree champs for both the men's and women's race. In the men's race, the Knights had the top four finishers to score 17 points. Hope and Albion tied for second-place with 68 points each, followed by Adrian 114, Alma 129, Trine 174, Kalamazoo 200 and Olivet 252.
The Olivet men were led by sophomore Brock Hubbard (Battle Creek/Harper Creek), as he covered the 8K course in 31:44. Senior Serafin Llerena (Bangor) was next in 32:07, followed by junior Alex Johnson (Atlantic Mine /Houghton) in 33:28.
Olivet will next compete at the Michigan Intercollegiates Oct. 9 at Oakland University.
