UOlivet ends season with three-set loss at Mount Union

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The University of Olivet men's volleyball team closed out the 2026 season with a three-set loss to University of Mount Union (Ohio) for a Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) match today at the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.

- Final Score: Mount Union defeated Olivet 25-12, 25-23, 25-20

- Records: Olivet 5-21 overall, 0-9 MCVL; Mount Union 12-16 overall, 5-4 MCVL
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first set, the score was tied at 5-5. The Purple Raiders scored seven of the next eight points to take a 12-6 lead. Mount Union held onto the lead for the rest of the set.
- For the majority of the second set, neither team led by more than two points. During that time, there were 12 tied scores and three lead changes. The Purple Raiders gained the largest lead for either team at 20-16. The Comets fought back to close the gap to a single point on four occasions. After the fourth time at 24-23, an Olivet service error handed the set to Mount Union.
- In the third set, the Comets built a two-point cushion. Down 10-8, the Purple Raiders used a kill and three Olivet attack errors to go up 12-10. The Comets scored the next point before Mount Union used another 4-0 spurt for a five-point advantage. Olivet fought back to close the gap to four points but got no closer for the rest of the set.
FOR THE COMETS
- Sophomore Payton Hastings slammed down a team-high eight kills, followed by freshman Jared Carter (seven) and sophomore Silas Martin (five).
- Freshman Austin Chamblee collected 22 set assists.
- Senior Matthew Tollar recorded a match-high nine digs.
