Fremeau and Norkowski named MIAA Field Athletes of the Week
HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – The University of Olivet has swept the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Field Athletes of the Week. Sophomore Owen Fremeau is the men's honoree and senior Emily Norkowski is the women's honoree following their performances at the Central Michigan University / Jack Skoog Open.
Fremeau was first in both in the shot put and weight throw. His mark in the shot put (53 feet, 3/4 inches) was a personal best by more than two meters and ranks No. 6 on the 2025 NCAA DIII Performance List. Fremeau's mark in the weight throw (60 feet, 1/2 inch) broke the school record, was a personal best by more than four meters and is No. 10 on the performance list.
"Owen has made huge progress since returning to school in the fall," said Olivet head coach Karen Lutzke. "Coach (Daustin) Martin is doing a tremendous job working with Owen. We are excited to see Owen's continued improvement throughout the next few years."
Norkowski won the triple jump with a mark of 33 feet, 3-1/4 inches. The performance currently ranks second among MIAA jumpers this winter.
"Emily has put in the work, and it is paying off," said Lutzke. "As a senior on the team, she continues to step up in her leadership role on and off the track. Coach (Joey) LeMere works with her in the triple jump, and they are looking for big improvements throughout the year in all her events."
