McDowell breaks 400m school record, day one at Division III Elite Indoor Championships complete
WAVERLY, Iowa – The first day of competition at the 2021 Division III Elite Indoor Championships inside the Hoover Fieldhouse is complete. Highlighting day one action was junior Kyle McDowell breaking the school record in the 400-meter dash.

WAVERLY, Iowa – The first day of competition at the 2021 Division III Elite Indoor Championships inside the Hoover Fieldhouse is complete.
- In the 400-meter dash, junior Kyle McDowell finished fourth in a school-record time of 49.14 seconds.
- Also in the 400-meter dash, sophomore Jordon Brown won his heat to place seventh in a career-best time of 49.68 seconds.
- The distance medley relay team of sophomore Chase Mendham, senior Tyler Peck, junior Dustin Rutter and freshman Hayden Germain was eighth with a time of 10:39.75, which was just under one-second slower than the school record time of 10:39.11.
- The second day of the Elite Indoor Championships gets started tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. CT.
- Olivet's entries are Lillian Albaugh and Jacob Smith in the shot put, Jordon Butler in the long jump, and the 4x400-meter relay quartet of McDowell, Brown, Peck and William Reed.
