Track & field teams compete at Al Owens Classic
The Olivet College men's and women's outdoor track & field teams competed today at the Al Owens Classic, which was hosted by Grand Valley State University. Due to the high winds and extreme cold weather, all of the running events along with the high jump and pole vault were contested indoors, while the remaining field events were held outdoors.

Due to the high winds and extreme cold weather, all of the running events along with the high jump and pole vault were contested indoors, while the remaining field events were held outdoors.
WOMEN
The best performance on the track for the Olivet women was turned in by sophomore Cassie Ciaravino. After being fourth in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.52 seconds, she ran the finals seven-hundredths slower for a sixth-place finish.
In the field events, sophomore Sara Wegener placed second in the shot put, throwing it 11.48 meters/37 feet, 8 inches.
MEN
The top performances for the Comet men were by sophomores Henry Pettway and Jalen Weaver. Pettway was 10th in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.21 seconds, narrowly missing the finals. Weaver placed 10th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.95 seconds.
Olivet is back in action next Thursday-Saturday, April 25-27, at the 47th Annual Hillsdale College "Gina" Relays.
