Olivet College’s Tyler and Weaver compete at Grand Valley Last Chance Meet
Olivet College senior Trevor Tyler (Roscommon) and freshman Jalen Weaver (Albion) competed today at the Grand Valley State University Last Chance Meet.
ALLENDALE, Mich. – Olivet College senior Trevor Tyler (Roscommon) and freshman Jalen Weaver (Albion) competed today at the Grand Valley State University Last Chance Meet.
Tyler used the meet as one final attempt to run faster in the 400-meter dash and better his placement in the NCAA Division III rankings. He placed sixth, crossing the line in 48.75 seconds, which was slower than his fastest time (48.32) this season. Tyler's time now sits in a tie for 20th-place in the national rankings. The student-athletes with the top 20 declared times will be allowed to compete at the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championships May 24-26 at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Calif.)
Tyler also ran in the 200-meter dash today, with hopes of breaking the school record. He finished the race in 22.28 seconds, which was six-hundredths slower than the record.
Weaver competed in the 1,500-meter run and finished the race in 1:59.61. The time was good enough for fifth in his heat and seventh of 12 runners.
