OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College senior sprinter James Williams (Battle Creek/Central) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Athlete of the Week for men's track and field.
Williams won the 100-meter dash March 30 at the Defiance (Ohio) College Yellow Jacket Open Meet. His time of 11.31 seconds is second-best in the MIAA this season. Williams also placed eighth in the 200-meter dash and ran the anchor leg of the fourth-place 4x100-meter relay.
"James had a solid performance in his 100 despite the cooler temperature," said Olivet Head Men's Track and Field Coach Jeff Kavalunas. "He has been running well all season and this time was a great start to his outdoor season."
Williams and the Comets are back in action Saturday when they compete at the All-American Meet at Adrian College. Running events will start at 11 a.m., with field events starting an hour earlier at 10 a.m.
