Men’s track and field team places seventh at MIAA Field Day
Backed by a second-place finish and school-record performance in the 4x100-meter relay, the men’s track and field team placed seventh at the 2011 MIAA Field Day. The two-day championship event was hosted by the Comets, taking place on the Kolassa Track and inside the Cutler Athletic Complex.
OLIVET, Mich. – Backed by a second-place finish and school-record performance in the 4x100-meter relay, the Olivet College men's track and field team placed seventh at the 2011 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Field Day. The two-day championship event was hosted by the Comets, taking place on the Kolassa Track and inside the Cutler Athletic Complex.
Olivet finished with 25 points. Calvin defended its championship with 212 points, followed by Hope (149), Albion (130), Adrian (128), Trine (68) and Alma (60).
Arthur Williams (Lansing/Holt), Joe Camble (Lansing/Waverly), Edric Miller (Battle Creek/Central) and James Williams (Battle Creek/Central) ran the 4x100-meter relay in a time of 42.79 seconds. The best individual performance was by Jesse Holmes (Springport), who was the runner-up in the 400-meter dash with a season-best time of 50.13 seconds.
James Williams and Camble were fifth (:11.29) and seventh (:11.74), respectively in the 100-meter dash. Arthur Williams finished sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (:58.21).
The top field performer was Justin Walters (Clarksville/Lakewood). He tied for 10th-place in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5 feet, 9.25 inches.
Today's meet ended Olivet's season.
