Men's track and field team participates in MIAA Indoor Invitational
The men's track and field team participated in the 2011 MIAA Indoor Invitational today, hosted by Trine (Ind.) University and placed seventh with 17.50 points.
The Olivet College men's track and field team participated in the 2011 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Indoor Invitational today, hosted by Trine (Ind.) University and placed seventh with 17.50 points.
Junior James Williams (Battle Creek/Central) won the 60-meter.dash. During the prelims, he was fastest in 7.13 seconds and then went four one-hundredths faster in the finals with a time of 7.09 seconds. Freshman Arthur Williams (Lansing/Holt) placed eighth in the same event at 7.28 seconds.
Junior Jesse Holmes (Springport) placed seventh in the 400-meter dash in 52.53 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay also finished in seventh-place.
In field events, sophomore Justin Walters (Clarksville/Lakewood) tied for sixth in the high jump with a 5'9.75" clearance.
This meet was the final indoor meet for the Comets. They will now train for their outdoor schedule, which begins April 1 at the Defiance College Yellow Jacket Open Meet. Included on its outdoor schedule, Olivet will host the 2011 MIAA Field Day May 5-6.
