Track and field teams compete at Defiance (Ohio) Yellow Jacket Open Meet
The Olivet College men’s and women’s track and field teams competed today at the Defiance (Ohio) College Yellow Jacket Open Meet. The women placed third with 60 points, while the men were fourth with 48.5 points.

Freshman Mackenzie Heator (Union City) paced the women with a third-place and two fourth-place finishes. She was third in the long jump with a 14'5.25" leap, and fourth in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes with times of 14.03 and 29.33 seconds, respectively.
The women were also the runner-up in three events: Freshman Tami Cahow (Climax/Climax-Scotts), 400-meter hurdles (1:17.56); junior Courtney Ivan (Belleville), javelin (107'3"); and freshman Tonia Ramsey (Battle Creek/Harper Creek), shot put (28'10.50"). Ramsey also took fourth in the javelin (87'9").
The men had two second-place finishes in junior Josh Beischer (Capac), shot put (42'0") and junior Robert Horton (Charlotte), discus (138'7"). Freshman Nick Wolf (Olivet) was third in the triple jump (34'4.75") and fourth in the pole vault (11'6.25"). Sophomore Joel Gyomory (North Branch) tied fourth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5'10.50".
The Comets are now idle until Wednesday, April 19, when they resume their Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schedule. They will travel to Adrian College for a double dual against the Bulldogs and Hope College.
