Track and field teams participate in Mount Union Invitational
A select group of Olivet College track and field members participated in the Mount Union (Ohio) College Indoor Track/Field Invitational last Saturday, February 28.
A select group of Olivet College track and field members participated in the Mount Union (Ohio) College Indoor Track/Field Invitational last Saturday, February 28.
On the mens side, freshmen Kemp Luchie (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Northern High School), Casey Redfield (Shepard High School) and Marcus Robinson (Albion High School) competed in the 55-meter dash. Luchie had a time of 6.84 seconds during the preliminaries to advance to the finals. In the finals, he was fifth (6.87 seconds). Redfield and Robinson ran times of 7.12 and 7.61 seconds, respectively, in the prelims.
Luchie recorded a time of 39.51 seconds in the 300-meter dash, and Robinson had a time of 45.45 seconds in the same event. Redfield completed the 400-meter run in 55.74 seconds. Sophomore Dan Kimball (National City/Oscoda High School) ran in the 800- and 1500-meter runs, and had times of 2.16.90 and 4:33.60, respectively.
Freshman Jake Casey (Petersburg/Summerfield High School) had a shot put toss of 412.75. Freshman Bobbie Horton (Charlotte High School) threw the shot 396.60, and freshman Josh Beischer (Capac High School) recorded a 392 toss.
Sophomore Rachel Strelecki (Sterling/Standish-Sterling High School) and freshman Jessica Pletz (Lake/Farwell High School) competed for the Lady Comets. Pletz had a time of 2:37.70 in the 800-meter run. Both participated in the 1500-meter run and ran times of 5:27.00 and 5:48.70, respectively. Strelecki completed the 3000-meter run in 12:49.00.
