Men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams compete at Patrick Woehnker Invitational
The Olivet College men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at the two-day Patrick Woehnker Invitational, hosted by Wabash (Ind.) College and held at the Class of 1950 Natatorium in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – The Olivet College men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at the two-day Patrick Woehnker Invitational, hosted by Wabash (Ind.) College and held at the Class of 1950 Natatorium in Crawfordsville, Indiana. The meet featured four other schools – NCAA DIII DePauw (Ind.) University, DIII Wabash (men only), NAIA Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University and NCAA DIII University of Indianapolis.
For the women, freshman Allyson Schultz (Traverse City/Central) swept the diving competition, scoring 148.05 points on the one-meter and 134.85 points on the three-meter. Junior Jazmin Johnson (Grand Rapids/Northview) turned in season-best performances in the 100 (:55.17) and 200 (2:03.59) freestyle.
Junior Shana Bush (Alma) posted a season-best time of 5:37.81 in the 500 freestyle. Sophomore Kira Gates (Grosse Ile) completed the 100 butterfly in a season-best time of 1:02.65. Senior Alivia Hammond (Byron Center) finished the 100 backstroke in a season-best time of 1:02.77.
For the men, sophomore Troy Wilkins (Lansing/Everett) took first-place on the 3-meter diving board with 272.55 points and second on the one-meter diving board with 236.30 points. Senior Ben Aldrich (DeWitt/St. Johns) posted a season-best time of 21.98 seconds in the 50 freestyle. Junior Jimmy DeRupa (Trenton) achieved season-best times in the 100 (:50.05) and 200 (1:51.02) freestyle.
The Comets are now off until Dec. 13-20 when they travel to Florida for their annual winter training trip.
