Lingbeek and Meisner advance to the 2005 NCAA Swimming/Diving Championships
Olivet College’s Jill Lingbeek (Plainwell) and Dustin Meisner (Temperance/Erie Mason) have advanced to the 2005 NCAA Division III Swimming/Diving Championships at the Holland Community Aquatic Center (HCAC).
Olivet College’s Jill Lingbeek (Plainwell) and Dustin Meisner (Temperance/Erie Mason) have advanced to the 2005 NCAA Division III Swimming/Diving Championships at the Holland Community Aquatic Center (HCAC). The women’s championship will be held March 10-12 while the men’s championships are one week later, March 17-19.
Lingbeek will swim in the 100 butterfly, 200 butterfly and 100 backstroke. She was the 2005 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) champion in all three events. Her qualifying times in the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke were automatic qualifying cuts. Lingbeek is seeded fourth (:57.32) in the 100 butterfly and seventh in the 100 backstroke (:58.71). She is the 21st seed in the 200 butterfly (2:08.78). In addition, Lingbeek’s times are school records.
Meisner will compete in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. He was the 2005 MIAA champ in the 200 breaststroke and placed second in the 100 breaststroke. Meisner is the ninth seed in both events. His NCAA provisional times were :57.29 in the 100 breaststroke and 2:05.62 in the 200 breaststroke. These times are also school records.
Lingbeek and the Lady Comets finished in fourth-place at the 2005 MIAA Championships. Meisner and the Fighting Comets were an all-time best second. Lingbeek and Meisner return to a familiar pool as the MIAA Championships were also held at the HCAC.
