Men's swimming and diving team loses to John Carroll
The Olivet College men's swimming and diving team dropped a 139-99 decision against John Carroll University. The Fighting Comets also broke two school records and recorded three first-place finishes.
The Olivet College men's swimming and diving team dropped a 139-99 decision against John Carroll University. The Fighting Comets also broke two school records and recorded three first-place finishes.
The 200 medley relay team of Juan Aguirre (Queretaro, Mexico), Ananta Fetters (Fennville/Holland High School), Ben Guins (Lansing/Eastern High School) and Paul Riha (East Grand Rapids High School) broke the school record in the 200 medley relay (1:41.74). Guins set a school record with a first-place finish in the 200 breaststroke (2:21.69).
In addition, Andy Weiss (Fremont High School) won the one- and three-meter dive competitions with scores of 235.75 and 220.75, respectively.
The Comets were also credited with 10 second-place finishes. Steve Dastoli (Kalamazoo/Central High School) and Levi Yockey (Phoenix, Ariz./North High School) were second in two events apiece.
Olivet finishes its dual meet schedule with a 5-4 record. The Comets are idle until the 2004 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships on Feb. 19-21 at East Grand Rapids High School. Preliminaries each day begin at 10 a.m., and finals will start at 6 p.m.
