Olivet College’s Geremia selected MIAA Defensive Player of the Week
Olivet College senior Vince Geremia has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Defensive Player of the Week for men’s soccer.
FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College senior Vince Geremia has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Defensive Player of the Week for men's soccer.
Geremia played all 90 minutes in the Comets' season-opening 2-0 shutout win over Augustana (Ill.) College. At the center back position, he helped limit the Vikings to two total shots, with just one being placed on-goal.
"This honor is well-deserved for Vince," said Olivet head men's soccer coach Dan Montanye. "His organization of the back line on Saturday helped prevent Augustana from creating any goal-scoring opportunities. Vince continually cleared the danger whenever our defense was put under pressure."
The Comets return to the pitch tonight with an 8 p.m. game at Edgewood (Wis.) College.
