Men’s soccer team loses heartbreaker to Calvin, 1-0
The Olivet College men’s soccer team lost a heartbreaker to nationally-ranked Calvin College, 1-0, this afternoon on a chilly, windy day at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. The Knights entered the game ranked #17 in the latest D3Soccer.com Top 25 poll and 15th in the recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll.

The Olivet College men's soccer team lost a heartbreaker to nationally-ranked Calvin College, 1-0, this afternoon on a chilly, windy day at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. The Knights entered the game ranked #17 in the latest D3Soccer.com Top 25 poll and 15th in the recent National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll.
Luke Holtrop dented the back of the net for the Knights with just 6:25 left in the contest. Olivet had two chances to score the equalizer in the final minute. One shot hit the far post and bounced into the keeper's hands.
Calvin finished the game with 25 shots, while the Comets had nine. Freshman Matt Garza (Saline) topped Olivet with three shots. Junior Mike May (Mason) took two shots. Junior Ethan Felsing (Mason) played all 90 minutes in goal and made nine saves.
Olivet will play its next three games on the road, beginning Saturday against Kalamazoo College. Game time is 2:30 p.m.
