The Olivet College men's soccer team fell to Kenyon (Ohio) College, 2-1, in the second round of the Ohio Wesleyan Fred Myers Invitational in Delaware, Ohio. Senior Andrew Evans (Eastport/Petoskey) and sophomore Matt Manning (Charlotte) were named to the all-tournament team.
Kenyon led 1-0 at halftime behind a goal in the 19th minute. The Comets (0-2) tied the game in the 63rd minute. Evans took a shot, which deflected off the goalkeeper's hands, and sophomore Mike May (Mason) headed the rebound past the keeper and into the goal. The Lords scored the game-winner with just under 14 minutes left in regulation.
For the game, May had three shots, including two on-goal. Manning also had two shots on-goal. Sophomore goalie Ethan Felsing (Mason) faced 19 shots and collected five saves.
Olivet will return to Ohio next Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 6-7 when it plays in the Denison University Invitational. On Saturday, the Comets will play the host Big Red at 7:30 p.m.
