Men’s soccer team beats Manchester, 5-1
Senior Graham Lockwood (Haslett/Williamston) scored two goals to lead the Olivet College men’s soccer team to a 5-1 win today at Manchester (Ind.) College.

Senior Graham Lockwood (Haslett/Williamston) scored two goals to lead the Olivet College men's soccer team to a 5-1 win today at Manchester (Ind.) College.
Following a 1-1 tie at halftime, the Comets tallied four unanswered goals in the second half. Sophomore Mike May (Mason) put Olivet up 1-0 with goal in the fourth minute. Freshman Chase Anthes (Ludington) assisted on the goal. The Spartans scored the equalizer with just one minute left before halftime.
The Comets' first goal of the second half was the reverse of their first goal, scored by Anthes and assisted by May. Lockwood dribbled through four defenders to score an unassisted goal in the 77th minute. Freshman Scott Burkett (Hudsonville) found the back of the net in the 84th minute. Three minutes later, Lockwood converted a penalty kick goal.
For the game, Lockwood took six shots, including five on-goal. Anthes had five shots (four on-goal). Sophomore keeper Ethan Felsing (Mason) collected five saves, while facing 10 shots.
The Comets will open Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play Wednesday, Sept. 24, when they travel for a 4 p.m. game at Trine (Ind.) University.
