The Olivet College men’s soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to the host Big Red in the first round of the Denison University Invitational in Granville, Ohio.

The Olivet College men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to the host Big Red in the first round of the Denison University Invitational in Granville, Ohio. The Comets will play DePauw (Ind.) University tomorrow at 1 p.m.
All the scoring came in the first half. Denison took an early 1-0 lead with a goal in the third minute. Olivet tied the game in the 30th minute when sophomore Mike May (Mason) converted a penalty kick goal. The Big Red scored the game-winner less than three minutes later on a breakaway goal.
For the game, the Comets had a 15-9 edge in shots and 7-4 advantage in shots-on-goal. Freshman Phillip Glaub (Okemos) finished with a team-leading five shots, including two on-goal. May had three shots. In goal, sophomore Ethan Felsing (Mason) played the entire game, making two saves. In addition, Denison was whistled for 28 fouls, while Olivet had only nine fouls.
Following tomorrow's game, the Comets will be idle until Tuesday, Sept. 16, when they host Finlandia University in their home-opener at 3 p.m. Prior to the men's game, the Olivet women will play Finlandia at 1 p.m.
