The Olivet College men's soccer team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Calvin College, 4-1, today at Zuidema Field in Grand Rapids.
The Knights led 2-0 at halftime and stretched their lead to 4-0 with a pair of goals in the first 11 minutes, 21 seconds of the second half. Olivet put its goal on the scoreboard in the 66th minute when sophomore Clay Robinson's (Marshall) shot found the back of the net. The goal was only the fifth allowed by Calvin in MIAA play.
Offensively, the Knights had one-shot advantage in the first 45 minutes, 4-3, and two-shot advantage, 7-5 in the second 45 minutes, for a total 11-8 advantage. Senior Corey Evans (Mason) and sophomore Mike May (Mason) topped the Comets with two shots each, and five others each had a shot apiece. Sophomore Ethan Felsing (Mason) played the first 70:09 in goal and collected two saves. Freshman Scott Burkett (Hudsonville) finished the game in goal and recorded one save.
Olivet travels to play to play MIAA rival Albion College Saturday. Game time at Alumni Field in Albion is 2 p.m.
