Olivet wasted little time, scoring its first in the third minute when freshman Phillip Glaub (Okemos) deflected a pass from sophomore Mike May (Mason) into the back of the net. Senior Andrew Evans (Eastport/Petoskey) put the Comets up 2-0 at the 5:05 mark. After his initial shot was not controlled by the Alma goalkeeper, he buried the rebound into the goal.
Olivet added another goal in the 32nd minute when freshman Chase Anthes (Ludington) dribbled the ball past four Scot defenders in the box and sent a shot into the back of the goal. Freshman Ross Cutler (Ann Arbor/Pioneer) was credited with the assist. The score remained 3-0 at halftime. The same combination for the Comets' first goal scored their fourth and final goal. May passed the ball to the feet of Glaub, who sent the shot past the keeper.
For the game, Olivet out-shot Alma, 18-14, including a dominating 13-6 advantage in shots-on-goal. Glaub had a team-leading five shots (four on-goal). Evans was second with four shots, all on-goal. Burkett finished the game in goal and recorded one save.
The Comets will wrap-up the 2008 season Saturday when they travel to play Kalamazoo College at 2 p.m.
